RICHMOND, VA - The Hilton Richmond Downtown is proud to announce its induction into the Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for recognizing, celebrating, and promoting the finest historic hotels in the United States. Housed in the iconic Miller & Rhoads department store building, Hilton Richmond Downtown joins the ranks of more than 300 historic hotels across the United States, honoring the building’s legacy while offering modern comforts.
Originally built in 1883, the hotel retains the charm of its storied past, with original architectural elements like the marble floors and soaring ceilings that once welcomed shoppers to one of Richmond’s most beloved department stores. The transformation of this historic landmark into a hotel has preserved the building’s character while incorporating contemporary amenities to create the perfect vacation experience for guests.
“Historic Hotels of America is delighted to induct Hilton Richmond Downtown, an Art-Deco hotel originally built as the iconic Miller & Rhodes Department Store in 1885,” said Lawrence Horwitz, Executive Vice President of Historic Hotels of America and Historic Hotels Worldwide. “We commend the Hilton Richmond Downtown leadership team for their careful historic preservation work, stewardship, and vision that will allow future generations of travelers to experience this unique historic destination.”
